Flash Gordones voltam a atacar!
A dupla que fez furor na Redbull I-Battle em outubro do ano passado (e que só não ganhou por uma décima) está de volta ao Musicbox. Skillaz e Madame, acompanhados desta vez por dois outros seres galácticos com poderes sobrenaturais, vão fazer uma noite que é mais uma batalha de sons. Linda-de-Suza-meets-Technotronic-kind-of-party. Só há uma coisa a escrever na agenda: 5ªFeira, 24 de Março, 01h, Musicbox, Flash Gordones are back in town.

On the weekend of the 25th - 27th of February, we’re heading off to Zmar in Zambujeira-do-Mar for a massive Madame party with Stereo Addiction, Heartbreakerz and Twofold. Lineup, venue, timetable, price, lights, soundsystem - all the details have been finalized. Stereo Addiction, Heartbreakerz and Enigma will provide the pounding tunes at this year’s edition of the Madame Cabaret Xmas Party at Lisbon’s Mercado da Ribeira.
Near the city centre, with various forms of public transport on the doorstep, there’s no excuse whatsoever not to let your hair down and have a little fun. On the 25th of December, leave your car at home, round up your friends and be sure to come early to avoid the usual massive cues at the door. We promise there will be plenty of room for everyone, but be sure to get done with dinner as soon as possible because this is the one christmas party you can’t afford to miss.
After a relatively quiet autumn (the annual Madame birthday bash was held a bit earlier this year with a big “O Baile” event that rounded out the summer in late September) Madame is back in business and collaborating with event planners extraordinaire Cabaret. Those of you who were present at the 2008 and 2009 editions will know how epic and utterly unmissable these parties are, so see you on the 25th!
And as Madame always plans ahead, she has put together a special treat lined up for everyone who wants to keep going after the party is done. Lisbon’s most renowned after hours hotspot Europa will be open for business and the booth will be occupied by Madame artists Twofold and Heartbreakerz. Gustavo Rodrigues has been dedicating most of his time to making new music in the studio he built. This is the same studio that produces the weekly Ginga Beat radio show for Red Bull. Madame está neste preciso momento a preparar a edição 2010 da maior festa de Natal de Lisboa, juntamente com a produtora Cabaret. Para este ano, o local escolhido foi o Mercado da Ribeira na Avenida 24 de Julho. Construído sobre as ruínas do antigo forte de S. Paulo, o Mercado da Ribeira é o local perfeito para a festa mais famosa das férias de Natal. Por enquanto podemos adiantar que a noite será animada por Enigma, exemplo português de um artista com muito bom gosto dentro das sonoridades mais hip hopeiras e funkeiras, que dá início às festividades. As of the writing of this entry, Madame is busy preparing the 2010 edition of Lisbon’s biggest christmas party in collaboration with event planners extraordinaire Cabaret. This year the party will be held at the beautiful Mercado da Ribeira. Built on the ruins of the S. Paulo fort, the Mercado da Ribeira is a part of Lisbon’s cultural heritage and the perfect spot to throw the biggest bash of the yuletide season. For now we can confirm that DJ Enigma will be on hand to warm up party goers with his fusion of funk and hip hop. The rest of the evening will be in the hands of Madame’s DJs so we can expect Portugal’s finest DJ duos to keep the party going into the wee small hours. During the following weeks we will be keeping you in the loop regarding future developments so stay tuned.
Madame Talks
A Madame foi convidada a participar numa aula aberta organizada pelo Instituto Superior de Ciências Sociais e Políticas, em Lisboa, no âmbito da disciplina de Indústria Musical, da Pós-Graduação em Marketing Musical. Madame vai partilhar com os alunos presentes, algumas das experiências que acumulou ao longo dos tempos, enquanto manager e booker dos seus artistas, enquanto comunicadora de eventos musicais e organizadora de eventos especiais. Truques, dicas, as experiências boas e as menos boas, exemplos de bom funcionamento, tudo será discutido.
Outro assunto que irá ser partilhado com este grupo de estudantes, é o projecto Village Underground que chega brevemente a Lisboa, e a sua relação com a musica, e as artes em geral.

Madame has been invited to participate in an open conference organized by portuguese university ISCSP in Lisbon, regarding the Music Business for students getting a post graduate degree in Music Marketing. Madame will be talking about her experiences over the past few years while managing the careers of some of Portugal’s biggest dance music acts. She will provide insight into the do’s and dont’s for breaking artists and many other topics. Another point of interest that will be discussed will be the Village Underground project that will launch in Lisbon very soon and it’s benefits for the music world and the other arts.
Mark Henning aterra em Lisboa
Mark Henning, who won DJ Mag’s “Best Breakthrough Artist” of 2009, is heading to Lisbon. The English born, berlin-based producer whose epic releases on Soma Recordings (owned by one of techno’s most influential duos - Slam), Trapez and many others have made him into a dancefloor icon the world over, drawing the attention of Ricard Villalobos, Richie Hawtin and Luciano to name but a few. Henning is now gearing up to bring his highly acclaimed and ultra groovy live act to Faktory in Lisbon on saturday the 22nd of October. The evenings lineup will also include 4 local heroes - Soniculture label boss Expander, Gustavo Rodrigues of the dancefloor destroying Stereo Addiction, Manu and Twofold. Este produtor inglês cujos lançamentos na mítica Soma Recordings (editora de um dos projectos mais influentes do techno - os escoceses Slam) o transformaram num ícone das pistas de dança atraindo a atenção de Ricardo Villalobos, Luciano ou Richie Hawtin, prepara-se agora para apresentar o seu live ultra groovy no Faktory em Lisboa no sábado, dia 22 de Outubro.
O cartaz será preenchido por 4 artistas nacionais, que em conjunto já deram muito que falar ao longo do último ano - Expander (fundador da Soniculture), Gustavo Rodrigues (da dupla Stereo Addiction), Manu e Twofold. A Madame orgulha-se de ter dois dos seus talentos a actuar nesta festa (Gustavo e Twofold) e como não quer que percas a oportunidade de os ouvir, está a oferecer 3 entradas duplas aos mais rápidos (e atentos!).

Fotos, vídeos e sets Baile - Tudo para vocês
The 25th of September will go down as the day “O Baile” finally returned to Lisbon. The club (Loft) was packed, the music was mindblowing, the crowd was totally up for it, and the vibe was truely unforgettable. Artists, promoters, staff and punters were all very happy.
Twofold got things started with a stunning set, that we think will surely be remembered as one of the best in the history of “O Baile“. The techno maverick left the crowd begging for more.
Next up, the latest signing to Buraka Som Sistema’s label Enchufada, the 20 year old kuduro mastermind Roulet, took to the decks for his first solo DJ set (Roulet had previously played back to back with friends) and we are very proud to announce that, despite his nervousness, (nobody would ever have guessed, the boy wonder plays like a seasoned pro!) that his performance at “O Baile” was a huge success resulting in a heaving, packed dancefloor.
Headliner Nathan Fake stepped into the booth at precisely 3AM, and his stunning live act was every bit as amazing as we hoped it would be. The young über-producer, famous for his energetic performances, headbanged and danced his way through an hour long show that proved exactly why he is one of the world’s most beloved and respected techno artists - it also resulted in a small army of fans lining up for autographs and pictures.
Very few people would be audacious enough to step up and play after Nathan Fake, but Portugal’s biggest DJ duo, Stereo Addiction, were more than up to the task. John-E and Gustavo played an epic set that only ended at 7AM when the owners of the club had to literally drag the punters off the dancefloor! (just like our t-shirt says “O Baile never ends. Even when you get thrown out of the venue“).
Luckily for anyone who didn’t make it, the evening was recorded for posterity in a variety of ways!

O dia 25 de Setembro vai ficar marcado como o grande regresso do “O Baile” a Lisboa. Uma casa cheia, música fora de série, pessoas histéricas na pista, e um ambiente único de festa. Artistas, promotoras, staff e publico, felizes.
Twofold não podia ter inaugurado de melhor forma a cabine do Loft, com um set que nos arriscamos a dizer que ficou para a história da musica, e que deixou vários “a salivar” por mais quando teve de dar lugar a Roulet. “O Baile” orgulha-se de ter sido a primeira festa em que Roulet actuou sozinho na cabine (já tinha partilhado a experiência atrás dos pratos, com amigos, noutros eventos) , mas o seu nervosismo ficou muito bem disfarçado com as suas batidas fortes com a energia e boa disposição do rave dos nossos dias. Até as colunas do Funktion 1 estremeciam.
Nathan Fake, subiu à cabine às 03h em ponto, pronto para o headbanging mais famoso do Youtube, e fê-lo com toda a garra, dedicação e qualidade de que estávamos à espera, levando uma pequena multidão de fans a rodeá-lo para o autógrafo e a fotografia da praxe no final do set.
Mas eram só 04h quando Nathan terminou o seu live act, e o publico agitadíssimo queria mais. Muito mais. Problema para resolver nas mãos de Stereo Addiction, que pareciam estar loucos. Uma loucura saudável que durou até às….07h, com corpos que tiveram de literalmente ser arrastados da pista do Loft. (bem diz a tshirt Baile “Never ends. Even when you get thrown out of the venue”).

Faltam 17 dias para “O Baile” em Lisboa
There are only two weeks to go until the latest edition of “O Baile” in Lisbon, and the evening is shaping up to be a massive success. With two international headliners, Nathan Fake and Matthew Hawtin, 3 portuguese projects joining them in the DJ booth - Stereo Addiction, Twofold and Roulet - and UK designer extraordinaire Jack Featherstone handling the visuals, Madame and Lumin are very excited and the 25th of September couldn’t get here fast enough.
Over the last few weeks, we here at Madame Management have been focussing on the headliners Nathan Fake and Matthew Hawtin, however one of the main ideas behind “O Baile” is to showcase the most exciting new portuguese talent. With that in mind, Madame and Lumin invited Roulet, the latest addition the Enchufada roster (Buraka Som Sistema’s record label) to show off his considerable skills behind the decks. Roulet is a young Lisbon-based DJ and producer who, at the tender age of 20, has already seen one of his tracks gain widespread exposure on a fabriclive compilation and whose first release “Kitamanda” has been worthy of a video, which you can watch here. Roulet is gearing up to blow us all away on September the 25th at Loft.

Já só faltam 17 dias para o regresso do “Baile” a Lisboa e a festa promete. Com dois cabeças de cartaz internacionais, Nathan Fake e Matthew Hawtin, mais três projectos portugueses na cabine - Stereo Addiction, Twofold e Roulet - e o inglês Jack Featherstone a tratar dos visuais, Madame e Lumin estão muito entusiasmadas com a noite de 25 de Setembro, no Loft em Lisboa.
Nas últimas semanas temos dado destaque aos cabeças de cartaz, Nathan Fake e Matthew Hawtin, mas “O Baile” é, antes de mais, um acontecimento com a missão de apresentar novos talentos portugueses. É por isso que Madame e Lumin convidaram Roulet a mais recente aposta da editora dos Buraka Som Sistema, Enchufada, para mostrar o que vale. Roulet é um jovem produtor e DJ lisboeta. Com apenas vinte anos, o rapaz já viu um dos seus temas incluídos numa compilação do fabric e editou o seu primeiro lançamento “Kitamanda“, cujo video podes ver aqui.

Madame & Skillaz fazem equipa na RedBull i-battle
In Star Wars, duels were settled with lightsabers. Here, all the participants are Jedis, but their weapons are even more advanced and of the sonic variety: pounding sub frequencies, fluid mids and piercing highs. In a battle of these epic proportions, every frequency counts. The ammunition is stored in the mp3 players belonging to the 8 participating teams.
Battles will have 8 rounds, meaning each team has 4 opportunities to knock the opposition into next week. A team throwing out a dubstep bomb, might risk being caught in the blast radius of a drum n’ bass grenade, while a hefty reggae punch can be blocked and countered with a devastating funk blow to the head. The judges will have a decibel reader and the winner of each round will be decided by the volume of the audience’s reaction.
The Red Bull I-Battle will go down on the 1st of October at the Musicbox Arena in Lisbon, so make sure to save the date and rest your voices cause we’re going to need you nice and loud!

então funciona assim: cada batalha terá oito rounds. Quatro possibilidades para cada lado, de um minuto e meio para arrasar o inimigo. Quem atira uma bomba dubstep, arrisca-se a ser atingido por uma granada drum n’ bass, quem ousa avançar com uma estocada reggae, pode bem arriscar-se a levar com um temível golpe funk. No final quem avalia é o publico através do famoso sonómetro.

O livro que estou a ler - Life´s a Pitch – How to Sell Yourself and Your Brilliant Ideas- tem sido realmente inspirador e muito prático.
Um dos capítulos deste livro, foi inspirador ao ponto de me dar vontade de escrever esta nota. “Nota” esta que pode virar coluna regular no meu site (opção mais económica), ou quem sabe até uma nova categoria, mas por enquanto dá trabalho pensar nisso e no que me pode custar esse update tecnológico, que parece tão simples, mas nunca custa menos de 200€ (por muito que eu considere sempre um “investimento”, right…) .
Como é Domingo, o marido foi para Ibiza, e eu estou a fazer horas até alguém passar à janela a “dar um oi”, decidi escrever tudo aquilo que me veio à cabeça neste fim-de-semana, ao ler este capitulo. E para variar , não é sobre promotores chatos, festas aborrecidas, Bailes inovadores ou Djs da tanga.
Isto é muito mais profundo e variado. E na variação é que está o ganho, já dizia o meu Pai.
No entanto há algumas “regras” que é necessário eu explicar, para vos mandar à cara, quando começar o típico esta agora tem a mania que também escreve…
1. Sim, tenho.
2. Mas é bom que percebam que não tenho qualquer tipo de pretensão ridícula de virar mais uma blogger (se um editor acabar por ler esta coluna e imaginar que poderá vir a dar um blockbuster em Hollywood, por favor não perder tempo e entrar imediatamente em contacto comigo)
3. Vou escrever sem ligar nenhuma ao novo acordo ortográfico, porque isso é para os bloggers a sério.
4. Em relação à gramática, vou tentar fazer o meu melhor, mas neste caso, a desculpa de que há ai coisas escritas bem piorzinhas que esta, vai ter de valer.
5. Muitas das frases vão ser escritas em inglês, e algumas delas não vão ser traduzidas, não me perguntem porquê.
6. Comentários muito parvos ou muito inteligentes são todos aceites e reproduzidos. Por favor evitem é aqueles que não adiantam nada, porque… não adianta nada. A não ser para quem o escreve, que fica com sentimento de que disse qualquer coisa. E no fundo o “Delete Comment” está bem ao meu alcance.
O capitulo do livro que gerou tudo isto tem como titulo “Charisma, or, the courage to be different” (Carisma, ou a coragem em ser diferente), em que o autor – Stephen Bayley – define o que é Carisma exemplificando de uma forma muito simples.

Segundo Bayley, estas pessoas têm carisma: Che Guevara, Winston Churchill, Salvador Dali, Andy Warhol, Bill Clinton. E estas, por exemplo, não: Bill Gates, Prince Charles, Bush.
E porquê?
Acima de tudo, porque os primeiros fizeram alguma coisa de uma forma diferente.
Fácil: Che Guevara libertou toda uma geração contra a opressão, não apenas em Cuba, mas no resto do mundo. E fê-lo com meia dúzia de amigos, contra os EUA, um dos países mais poderosos do mundo.
Mas não se pense que para ter Carisma é preciso ser-se fisicamente bonito…
Winston Churchill “que bebia mais champagne numa semana do que a maior parte de nós numa vida inteira” e que disse a famosa frase a uma colega sua que o chamou de bêbado – “Indeed, madam, and you´re ugly, but tomorrow I shall be sober” é outro caso de grande Carisma. E o senhor não era propriamente bonito…
No caso de Salvador Dali, o bigode pontiagudo, a obsessão por dinheiro e sexo, o discurso pseudo-filosófico que tinha, o arriscar, e fazer diferente, fez dele um dos pintores mais carismáticos do seu tempo. E de todos.
Estes são exemplos de pessoas, que não fizeram apenas diferente, mas que parecem francamente estar a divertir-se com eles mesmos. E isso define também o ser-se carismático. Estas pessoas comportavam-se como elas queriam, e não como a sociedade esperava delas. Pessoas com Carisma, seguem os seus instintos. E gozam, no verdadeiro sentido da palavra, em o fazer.
(A Dali e Warhol nada lhes dava mais prazer do que participarem nos seus próprios filmes, por muito absurdo que o papel fosse – e que era na maior parte das vezes).
Bill Clinton sempre pareceu estar a controlar a situação ao mesmo tempo que parecia estar mesmo a ter prazer no que estava a fazer. Por oposição a Bush que, segundo Bayley, nem é preciso dizer qual da família, porque eram e são, todos, sem excepção, uns chatos.
Prince Charles não tem Carisma nenhum e pode ser tão chato como uma conta do gás, ou um atraso na entrega do IRS, apesar de se ter casado com uma das mulheres mais bonitas de Inglaterra e ter conseguido manter uma amante ao mesmo tempo.
Bill Gates pode ser o homem mais rico do mundo, mas Bayley considera-o um “charisma-free zone”.
Se Carisma é (segundo Bayley, com quem estou 100% de acordo) : Acreditar na nossa maneira de ser diferente e avançar por caminhos menos convencionais, com talento, inspirando outros pelo caminho, não se levando demasiado a sério, e ainda, gozar em pleno da vida.
Então quem é que tem Charisma em Portugal?
As Madame Soirées regressam ao Miradouro S. Pedro de Alcântara
After a month-long hiatus, the Madame Soirées are returning to Lisbon’s Miradouro S. Pedro de Alcântara. Between the months of April and July, the Soirées brought some of the most talented portuguese electronica artists to the Miradouro’s DJ booth, with performances from artists such as John-E & Gustavo, Twofold, Kaesar and Freshkitos. For the month of September, Madame has decided to broaden the musical spectrum on offer to showcase the hip-hop stylings of DJ Glue, the rock n’ rave of Bullycau, the hypnotic house of Zé Belo, and the eclectic yet fluid soundscapes of Justin Case. The soirées will hit the ground running, this upcoming friday the 3rd of September with a performance from Bullycau (pictured above), and up and coming DJ and producer from Lisbon who released his first record in June of this year, along with a remix of the track “Character Assassination” by Del Marquis (the Scissor Sisters‘ guitar player). Após uma paragem estratégica no mês de Agosto, as Madame Soirées estão de regresso ao Miradouro S. Pedro de Alcântara. Entre Abril e Julho, os finais de tarde mais agitados de Lisboa trouxeram à cabine do Miradouro alguns dos nomes mais interessantes da electronica nacional como John-E & Gustavo, Twofold, Kaesar, ou Freshkitos. Para o mês de Setembro, Madame decidiu alargar o estilo musical para dar a conhecer o hip-hop de DJ Glue, o rock n’ rave de Bullycau, o house hipnótico de Zé Belo, e o estilo incógnito de Justin Case. Arranca já esta sexta-feira, dia 3 de Setembro, a primeira edição desta grande reentrée com Bullycau (na foto), um jovém produtor e DJ de Lisboa que lançou o seu primeiro albúm de originais e Junho deste ano, juntamente com uma remistura do tema “Character Assassination” de Del Marquis (guitarrista dos Scissor Sisters). Nova aquisição para “O Baile” Lisboa
“O Baile“, the series of events hosted by Madame and Lumin to promote the finest portuguese talent overseas, is finally returning to Lisbon on Saturday the 25th of September at Loft.
As promised, the headliner will be one of the world’s most respected and well known techno producers: Nathan Fake. Fake is known far and wide as one of the leading artists on James Holden’s Border Community record label, and the 25 year old is responsible for some of the biggest dancefloor destroyers of the past few years including “The Sky Was Pink“, “Outhouse” and “Dinamo“. His latest offering, titled “Hard Islands” is an EP influenced not only by the harder edged, more dancefloor friendly end of the spectrum of the Warp Records catalogue but also by the ethereal, poignant melodies of the underground indie rock scene. His stunning live act is a must see for any and all fans of earthshaking, yet thoughtful electronic music.
Joining Nathan Fake will be a second international headliner in the form of renowned visual artist Matthew Hawtin. A member of the Minus family, younger brother of Richie Hawtin and a formidable DJ in his own right, Matthew’s sets help bridge the gap between pounding beats and hypnotic melodies. His performance at the last “O Baile” in London was so astounding that Madame and Lumin couldn’t resist bringing him to Lisbon to perform before a portuguese crowd.
In addition to the two headliners there will be performances from “O Baile” residents Stereo Addiction, whose latest tracks - Shades of Light and Dee-troit - were released on Kasey Taylor’s eVapour8 Recordings and have already been making waves on dancefloors in Portugal and abroad, up and coming Lisbon-based techno maverick Twofold whose stunning DJ sets and lavish productions have made him a favourite of crowds who like their dance music to be engaging, melodic and energetic, and last minute addition - Roulet (pictured above). Roulet is a young producer and DJ who, at the tender age of 20, has already had one of his tracks released on Buraka Som Sistema’s compilation for London super-club fabric, and he is also the latest addition to Buraka’s Enchufada record label.
Madame and Lumin are treating the return of “O Baile” to Lisbon with all the pomp and circumstance an event of this magnitude deserves and so they decided to hand the visuals over to english super designer Jack Featherstone who has collaborated with a huge list of musicians, brands and clubs including Ministry of Sound, Border Community, Simian Mobile Disco, The Count and Sinden and many more. The D&AD award winning artist will be charged with making sure the party looks as awesome as it sounds with his psychadelic imagery.
On Saturday the 25th of September at Loft in Lisbon, the door is wide open to any and all who wish to take part in a truly mind blowing experience.

E tal como já tinha sido anunciado, o cabeça de cartaz vai ser um dos nomes maiores do techno actual: Nathan Fake. Nathan, Dj e produtor de culto, é um dos artistas chave da editora Border Community, e o rapaz, de 25 anos, é responsável por alguns dos temas mais fascinantes dos últimos anos como “The Sky Was Pink“, “Outhouse” ou “Dinamo“. O seu último trabalho editado, “Hard Islands“, é um E.P influenciado tanto pela electronica altamente dancável e experimental da Warp Records como pelas melodias etéreas do indie rock underground. O seu live act arrebatador é imperdível para todo e qualquer adepto de música de pista.
Mas Madame e Lumin não dispensam a presença de um segundo cabeça de cartaz internacional, desta vez, aterrado de Berlin - Matthew Hawtin. Um artista visual , membro da família Minus (editora do seu irmão mais velho Richie Hawtin) e um DJ cujos sets procuram fazer a ponte entre as melodias hipnóticas e as batidas mais fortes. Hawtin já marcou presença no último “Baile” em Londres e a sua actuação foi tão forte que as organizadoras não resistiram em marcar uma actuação para o publico português, em Lisboa.
O talento português está nas mãos da dupla semi-residente do projecto, Stereo Addiction, cujos trabalhos recentes editados pela eVapour8 – “Shades of Light” e “Dee-Troit”- têm feito levantar os niveis de adrenalina nas pistas dentro e fora do país, Twofold, que sempre que se coloca numa cabine de Dj, faz maravilhas com o público à sua frente, num verdadeiro espectáculo de som, e ainda por uma aquisição de última hora - Roulet (na foto). Roulet é um jovem produtor e DJ que já viu uma das suas faixas editadas na compilação que os Buraka Som Sistema fizeram para o fabric de Londres, e que é a mais recente aposto da editora Enchufada.
E porque “O Baile” não se faz apenas com musica , mas é também palco de várias outras manifestações culturais que surpreendam e façam pensar, as organizadoras decidiram entregar a parte visual deste próximo evento, a Jack Featherstone, um artista inglês que já trabalhou com nomes como Simian Mobile Disco, The Count & Sinden a editora Border Community, ou Ministry of Sound, e já ganhou um D&AD.
Jack vai estar encarregue de criar um ambiente único com as suas imagens psicadélicas.

Madame participa na Midsummer Music Conference
The Midsummer Music Conference, which was held on the 30th and 31st of July in the Póvoa de Varzim just outside Oporto, was designed to be a meeting of minds among Portugal’s dance music movers and shakers - from artists to managers and beyond. The event hosted a series of debates to explore the ins and outs of the national electronic music scene. Among the participants are artists such as Pete Tha Zouk, Pedro Cazanova, Tiago Fragateiro and Overule, among others, discussed a wide variety of topics from “Electronic Music Production” to “Technology vs. Talent“. Madame was invited to participate as guest speaker on the 30th of July at the debate focused on “Management and Career Guidance” that was geared towards exploring a variety of perspectives from a group of Portugal’s leading managers on how to help an artist breakthrough. Madame was also invited to moderate a debate centered around “The Industry“.
The conference also served to showcase DJ sets by some of the worlds leading electronic music artists, with performances from Above & Beyond, Felix da Housecat, Sharam, Derrick May, and Shlomi Aber alongside portuguese artists such as Re:Axis, Riot (Buraka Som Sistema) and many others. A Midsummer Music Conference que decorre de 30 a 31 de Julho na Póvoa do Varzim, vai servir de ponto de encontro da indústria musical electrónica portuguesa. O objectivo deste encontro passa por debater e dar a conhecer os meandros e as pessoas que constituem a cena nacional. A participar nos debates vão estar nomes como Sónia Silvestre (editora da Dance Club) e artistas como Pete Tha Zouk, Pedro Cazanova, Riot, Tiago Fragateiro, e Overule a discutir assuntos variados desde a “Produção de musica electrónica” a “Tecnologia VS Talento”. Releases de artistas do Neopop
Falta menos de um mês para o maior festival de música electrónica de Portugal e os artistas que por lá actuam não param de dar que falar.
John Digweed, cabeça de cartaz do dia 13, acaba de lançar uma nova compilação “Structures” na sua editora Bedrock, que é mais uma prova dada do seu enorme talento.
Quem também está a dar musica, e gratuita, são os Cobblestone Jazz (também actuam dia 13), projecto liderado por Mathew Jonson que lançaram no início de 2010 o albúm “The Modern Deep Left Quartet”, e que disponibilizam um dos seus temas - “What You Want”- aqui.
Adam Beyer (actua dia 14) também tem trabalho novo e mostra-o através do seu novo EP, em colaboração com Alexi Delano, “Turn Loose” na Drumcode.
Anja Schneider (na foto, também actua dia 14) lançou recentemente um tema em colaboração com Lee Van Dowski, “La Roulette“, na compilação “Minimal Techno Vol. 17″ através da editora Futureaudio.

The dynamic duo prepared a very special live act for their performance which was a huge hit with the crowd and is a million miles away from what you may expect from a convential techno/house DJ set. O regresso das Madame Soirées
After a three week hiatus, the Madame Soirées are returning to Lisbon’s beautiful Miradouro S. Pedro de Alcântara. The lineup for the month of July is filled with artists handpicked by Madame from among the finest of Portugal’s elite dance music masters. The 2nd of July will see Felix daCat, one of Portugal’s most respected and well travelled DJs (he has played everywhere from São Paulo, to Barcelona, to Prague) will be bringing his impecable taste, humour and enviable mixing skills to the Soirées’ DJ booth - anyone who has witnessed one of his energetic performances at the after hours sessions at Europa or Garage will know not to miss his set. On the 9th, imported directly from Oporto, the DJ duo behind the nightclub Gare and the Neopop festival, Freshkitos will be bringing their trademark sonic assault to the Miradouro. On the 23rd, Macacos do Chinês one of Portugal’s most cutting edge bands, will be playing a stomping DJ set that will ensure the party never stops. Rounding out the month, the 30th of July will see Pedro Zoy’s funky tech house take centre stage at the Madame Soirées. For Lisbon’s party people these events are a surefire way to kick off the weekend.

As Madame Soirées estão de volta e mais agitadas que nunca. O lineup para o mês de Julho continua a apostar em talento nacional, e do bom. Para começar , dia 2 é a vez de Felix daCat, conhecido pela musicalidade, humor e fantasia que emite em cada set. Devem ser poucas as pessoas nesta cidade que nunca tenham experimentado a energia de um after-hours no Garage ou no Europa, ao som deste Dj/produtor, já com provas dadas em clubes em São Paulo, Barcelona ou Praga.
Dia 9, Madame tem o prazer de apresentar a dupla responsável pela maioria das (melhores) festas a Norte do país, directamente do Porto para o Miradouro - Freshkitos.
No dia 23, quem marca a batida são os Macacos do Chinês, em modo DJ, com a sua maneira muito própria de cantar e dançar a “Machadinha” e outros hits surpresa.
Pedro Zoy encerra o mês de Julho, na sexta-feira dia 30. Zoy que gosta de arriscar, e fá-lo bem, apresenta um live act tech-house-funky.

Madame exporta as suas Soirées para a Sérvia
The Madame Soirées are a series of events that have gained a huge cult following in Lisbon. Every Friday for the past two months, Madame has invited the finest DJs Lisbon has to offer to play DJ sets at the Miradouro S. Pedro de Alcântara which overlooks Portugal’s beautiful capital city. From 18:00 until 21:00, the music doesn’t stop and these events have provided Lisbon’s party people with a great way to kick off the weekends. With no fixed style, the Madame Soirées have hosted DJ sets that have spanned a wide variety of electronic music genres from house, to techno, even drum and bass! Now Madame will be bringing this concept to the Exit Festival’s V.I.P zone on the 9th of July. Music will be provided by two of Portugal’s most groundbreaking dance music acts - the powerhouse duo known as Stereo Addiction and Portugal’s DMC Scratch champion DJ Ride. The three artists will also be taking Madame & Lumin’s “O Baile” to the Suba Stage on the 10th of July alongside :papercutz and Rui da Silva.
