Madame promotes FACT party at Cargo
FACT is one of the most respected online music magazines in the world, committed to championing new music of all stripes - from the defiantly underground to the unabashedly pop. Attracting thousands of discerning visitors every day, factmagazine.co.uk is an unbeatable source of news, features, video, exclusive mixes and downloads. It’s also big on parties.
In collaboration with Madame, FACT is hosting it’s first free party at Cargo on Saturday the 2nd of May, bringing together three generations of cutting-edge UK bass music - taking in dubstep, garage and the bold, emergent sound of UK funky.
Headlining the proceedings will be Geeneus, UK Funky figurehead and the owner of infamous pirate radio station Rinse FM. Geenus has played a pivotal role in the development of British dance music in the past decade. His current DJ sets effortlessly draw links between classic US house and upfront UK Funky.
Wookie is perhaps the name to emerge from UK garage. His sound – a meticulous blend of RnB, drum’n’bass, house and reggae honed with Soul II Soul’s Jazzie B. Having worked with such luminaries as Masters at Work, MJ Cole, Nas and Public Enemy, Wookie now pursues a sleek and soul-infused house sound – rarefied and irresistible.
Among British dance music’s most mysterious and unpredictable characters, Various Production’s music bestrides grime, pop, bassline house and anything else you care to mention. They practically invented dubstep, fusing it with a folk sensibility on their ’06 album The World Is Gone. They’ll be breaking a long silence to play live for FACT, appearing with MC V.E.X.
Rinse FM DJ Alexander Nut is credited with reinventing hip-hop for the 21st century on his recent Rinse 08 album; his always deft and dancefloor-pleasing sets take in dubstep, R&B and so-called “wonky.
Brackles is nothing less than the UK’s most exciting young DJ, spinning funky, garage and dubstep with serious skill and aplomb; a talented producer also, his next single is out on Appleblim’s Apple Pips label.
Like the online magazine, FACT at Cargo is utterly essential and completely free.
