The Volkswagen Group has launched a contest whose main goal is the creation of something that takes an idea or activity, most people would find dull, makes it fun and also helps change people’s behaviour for the better. The winners of the contest will get 2500€ to make their proposed projects a reality.

To this end, the anonymous group behind the portuguese blog Buzzofias has put forward their concept: The Garbage Jukebox. The idea is that everyone loves to get together with their friends and have fun, but many times most people leave rubbish behind. Since a party isn’t a party without music, the Garbage Jukebox will run on the rubbish that is normally left on the floor - Plastic cups will be worth 1/2 a minute of music and glass bottles will be worth 1 minute and, since the time you gain on the Jukebox is cumulative, so long as everybody puts their empty bottles and cups in the Jukebox, the music never stops!
